Exciting news...I'm going to Florida in late July! I'm soooo ecstatic and I literally can't wait. I'm visiting a friend who I met at a summer program at USC last year, and I have no idea what I'll be doing there yet, but I'm just too excited to care at this point.
[I'm obviously an excellent planner, if you couldn't already tell from my blog title]
But alas, my trip to Florida is over a month away, so in the meantime, here's what I wore to Food Lab the other day. [here's the link to that post if you'd like to read it]
For the past 7 years of my life, I've worn a school uniform 5 days a week during the school year. Yeah, yeah you're probably cringing, thinking about how horrible and constricting it must be to wear practically the same thing every single day. Let me tell you, that uniform was a LIFESAVER. I cannot tell you how many times I woke up 10 minutes before I had to leave for school, thankful that all I had to do was throw on a khaki pleated skirt haphazardly rolled to mini-skirt length and a somewhat clean white Hanes v-neck before shoving my hair into a messy bun and running out the door.
That ominous question, "How would you define your style?" always throws me for a loop. How am I even supposed to answer that? I don't feel like my clothes are inspired by any specific time periods, artists, countries, cultures, etc.. I guess I would say my style is minimalistic and comfortable, but occasionally edgy? Yeah, I have no idea.
What I love about this outfit is that it's both stylish and comfortable. Both the top and skirt are from Urban Outfitters. I love this shirt because it's a twist on the classic white dress shirt. The fabric is a bit softer and heavier, moreso than the starchy, crisp, classic white button down. It's also cropped, which is a bit daring, I guess, but it's great for pairing with high-waisted shorts/skirts/pants. My favorite item in this outfit it probably the skirt, though. I bought this skirt as part of my Coachella outfits this year. It's super soft and almost resembles a light sweatshirt. I get that that probably doesn't do the skirt justice, but it's currently one of my favorite items in my wardrobe. Last but least, I wanted to keep the look pretty casual, so I wore my
I've included links to all these items, but if you can't get them, no problem! Draw inspiration from this ensemble and recreate it with your own wardrobe -- pair a comfy mini skirt with a dress shirt (cropped, if you have it!) and your favorite sneakers.
