COOKIES AND COFFEE

I remember complaining in my last post about how the weather wasn't feeling "summery" enough. Well someone out there must have heard me, because the past week has been nothing but high 80's and clear skies.

For this week's post, I decided to do a collaboration with June from Stir and Style. Both huge foodies, June and I were ecstatic to connect over Instagram and meet up at Milk Jar Cookies, an adorable shop boasting a large selection of freshly-baked, perfectly chewy cookies.

We were kindly offered six cookies of our choice to photograph and enjoy. With so many flavors, each towering on individual pastel cake stands, this task itself was quite daunting. We finally settled for one each of banana split, birthday cookie, chocolate chip, cinnamon sugar, mint chocolate and white chocolate macadamia.

I'm pretty picky when it comes to cookies. I don't like them crispy, and I don't like those super soft white cookies with pink frosting and tons of sprinkles that everyone seems to like.

No. I like my cookies thick - crisp and golden on the outside, chewy on the inside. Milk Jar's treats passed this test with flying colors. With six cookies in front of us, June and I thought we would eat one each, but after talking for a while, we realized we had devoured more than we had initially anticipated. My favorites were definitely the mint chocolate and chocolate chip, to which I kept going back for bigger and bigger bites. But am I really to blame? There were SIX cookies sitting beautifully on a platter in front of me. What was I supposed to do, just look at them???

After indulging our cookie cravings, we headed to Document Coffee Bar, where we settled for iced coffee drinks to combat that day's sun. I opted for the Cold Document, which has become my new favorite coffee drink: iced coffee with a little milk and some maple syrup for sweetness.

After Document, June and I parted ways, promising to meet again for more indulgences.

Wrapping up this post, here are some quick details about this very "dad-inspired" outfit...

Not that my dad would every wear jorts, but I think this combo is rather "dad" in many ways. It may have something to do with the relaxed cut of this oversized button-up from Madewell, which I have been obsessed with. Light and comfortable, this shirt is perfect for summer, and I love tucking it in to denim shorts or jeans, like with this high-waisted pair from Zara. And as much as I love the effortless tomboy look, I decided to spice things up a bit with some jewelry.

I'm pretty lazy when it comes to accessories. Most of the time, the only jewelry I wear are my ear piercings and nose ring, plus the three rings I never take off. I have an entire box of jewelry I've purchased and received over the years, yet I never really get around to wearing these pieces...

Also, a quick explanation about the photo above: I was trying to showcase my nails and jewelry, but it just kinda ended up looking like...

yeah...

um....I don't think I should try that again.
