THREE HOLIDAY-INSPIRED LOOKS

last-minute holiday shopping

last-minute holiday shopping by caitlinntayy

The holidays can be a really stressful time. Don't get me wrong. I love the holiday season more than anything (so maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration...but I do really love those few months), but during that home stretch the first half of December, it seems like the days are shortened by 10 hours and there's no way you're going to be able to get everything done in time. So here are three outfits I made on Polyvore to at least relieve that "WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO WEAR?!! ALL I WANT TO WEAR ARE PAJAMAS BUT I KNOW THAT'S NOT SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE" feeling.

The firs is what I call a "Last-Minute Christmas Shopping" look. The only reason it has a title is because Polyvore made me name it, and I didn't want to name it "Outfit #..." This is a look that you can do all of your last-minute errands in. You can either click the picture to visit my Polyvore site, which contains links to all the items in the set, or you can just use this as a source of inspiration. The name of the game here is comfort. Keep things comfy, yet stylish in loose-fit jeans (my favorite are boyfriend jeans), a soft cotton tee, and a pair of trainers. If you're in an area with colder weather, keep warm with a bomber jacket.

Accessorize with a small wallet and a thin-strap leather watch to keep your eye on the time!

Next up: a look that's perfect for holiday dinner. A bit dressier, this look is still comfortable and chic. Pair a black-and-white cheque A-line skirt with a cropped, sleeveless turtleneck top and simple black pointed flats. Still chilly? Add a pair of sheer black tights. For accessories, you want to keep things simple yet interesting. The point of the holidays isn't to draw the topic of holiday dinner conversation to your $5K statement necklace, or your imported silk dress. But being reserved doesn't mean you have to be boring. A small pair of gold, geometric studs and a black and gold watch add a nice metallic note. Keep your makeup simple, too! A gold lid with a few coats of mascara, and dark red lips and nails to tie everything together.

Coffee Date

This last look is a bit of a miscellaneous set...kind of like that weird feeling you get the day after Christmas (or which ever holidays you celebrate).

So I just called this a "Coffee Date" outfit. Maybe it's the day after   (insert your winter holiday of choice here)   and you can't wait to show off the clothes you got. Maybe you got a the perfect pair of chelsea boots...or a beautiful set of gold stacking rings...or perhaps even a pink leather clutch.

Going out? This look is the perfect day-to-night look. Dress up your favorite LBD (little black dress) with a pair of chelsea boots, stacks of gold rings and delicate chokers, and a pink leather wallet or clutch.

I hope at least one of these looks inspires you this holiday season!
